Eanna Book reviews 3

It's been twenty-two years since the award-winning author Philip Pullman published Northern Lights, the first book in His Dark Materials trilogy, and we couldn't have waited any longer! Out now is the stunning start to a new series, La Belle Sauvage, volume one to The Book of Dust. It's said to be a stand-alone series based in the same world as Lyra Belacqua and her amazing journey. With high expectations and masses of adorning fans, Philip Pullman had an immense task ahead of him, one which he met with ease. It's clear to see that he's an expert author, with a lovely writing style, and it's nice to see that it hasn’t changed over the years.  It's a beautiful story, with clear links to the initial trilogy, and nicely explains how Lyra, the heroine of His Dark Materials, comes to live at the Oxford college, known as Jordan.

This book follows the story of Alice and Malcolm, and with apposing characteristics, this book is set up nicely for another beautiful friendship, but will it leave us as heartbroken as its predecessors? You'll have to read and find out!
